Jaswant Thada

The Jaswant Thada is a cenotaph located to the left of Mehrangarh Fort in Jodhpur. It was built in 1899 by Maharaja Sardar Singh in the memory of his father, Maharaja Jaswant Singh II . Maharaja Jaswant Singh II was the 33rd Rathore ruler of Jodhpur.

Jaswant Thada is famous for its architectural brilliance in India. The memorial is built out of intricately carved sheets of marble. The stones used in the construction of Jaswant Thada are extremely thin and polished. As a result, they emits a warm glow when the sunrays fall on its surface.The cenotaph of Maharaja Jaswant Singh displays portraits of the rulers and Maharajas of Jodhpur.
